The mission of Wharton County Electric Cooperative, Inc. is to provide economical and reliable electric energy service to our members and to provide products, services, and leadership that will have a positive influence on the economy of the area that we serve.
BOARD LEADERSHIP
Article III, Section 1 of the Wharton County Electric Cooperative Bylaws states, “The business affairs of the Cooperative shall be managed by a board of nine (9) directors, which shall exercise all of the powers of the Cooperative except such as are by law or by the Articles of Incorporation of the Cooperative or by these bylaws conferred upon or reserved to the members.”
WCEC's service territory extends through Colorado, Wharton, Jackson, and Matagorda counties.
WCEC is a member distribution cooperative which means we only distribute electricity; we do not generate power. Our power supply is provided by South Texas Electric Cooperative based in Nursery, Texas.
Wharton County Electric Cooperative employs close to 40 people, many of whom live in the communities that we serve. Among them, you’ll find a wide range of skills that are essential to providing a critical need for our members: electricity. We employ linemen, member service representatives, IT personnel, communications staff and more. Find out more about your WCEC HOME TEAM below.
