Patsy Metting Retiring After 48 Years of Service
In April of 1976, a new era began for Patsy Metting, and later this month, that era will come to an end.
“For 48 years, Patsy has served the members of WCEC with dedication and devotion to her job,” says GM/CEO Gary Raybon. “If I had to describe Patsy in one word, it would be dedicated. She has never been one to take the easy route, she always takes the right path for WCEC and its members.”
Raybon is not alone in his assessment of Patsy’s work here. Dedicated is the most often used word by her friends and colleagues to describe her. Diligent, knowledgeable, dependable, and detailed are close runners-up. It is clear that Patsy has been a driving force in the success of the co-op over the years.
During her career, Patsy has worked under three general managers: Frank Stubbs, Donald Naiser, and current GM/CEO Gary Raybon. She has seen the accounting field change many times over.
“From green columnar pads and paper ledgers transitioning to the current computer programs. She has always learned and adapted quickly,” remarks Executive Secretary Brenda Moreno. “Patsy is the fastest calculator operator there ever was—on one occasion, her calculator started smoking and quit working. It couldn’t keep up with her fingers! Patsy has always been my ‘go-to’ person for anything to do with numbers.”
Helping others is also a hallmark of Patsy’s career. There is no shortage of remarks about her desire to mentor others in the ways of finance. We can only share a handful here.
“During my years of working with Patsy, she has helped me with any questions I have had,” Manager of Human Resources Selena Delapena says. “She truly loves accounting and is very good at what she does.”
Cashier Linda Bacak agrees, “Patsy has taught me the importance of making sure all of our reports are ‘to the penny’ and is always willing to work with us to get everything right.”
Accounting requires strict attention to detail, and Patsy has continuously proven her diligence in that regard.
“Patsy holds an admirable work ethic,” Accountant Cynthia Hernandez says. “She is willing to accept any task given to her and conquer it in the most diligent way. Patsy has made an indelible mark on the co-op, and she will be missed.”
Indeed, Patsy will be missed by all of us at WCEC. She has made many lifelong friends who look forward to continuing this friendship after her retirement.
Patsy will leave behind a legacy of hard work and dedication that will be hard to replace. We are proud to have had
Patsy on your WCEC HOME TEAM for the past 48 years and wish her all the best in her retirement.
